Help & File Limits
Supported files and limits
- Still images: JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and single-photo HEIC. Static, outlined SVG to PNG.
- Images to PDF: combine JPG and PNG, or use the homepage to combine supported image formats.
- Merge ordinary static PDFs: up to 300 pages per batch.
- Up to 1 GB per file, 20 files and 1 GB per batch. Large files also need enough memory on your device.
- Images: up to 24 megapixels, with no side longer than 16,384 pixels.
Browser requirements
Use an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with JavaScript, Web Workers, OffscreenCanvas and createImageBitmap support. If your browser cannot encode a selected format, choose another format or update the browser. On phones, start with a small batch.
Image dimensions and quality
Leave dimensions empty to keep the original size. With “Keep aspect ratio” enabled, dimensions define a bounding box; the image fits inside without being cropped. Turn it off only if you intentionally want to stretch an image. JPG and WebP quality can be adjusted. PNG is always lossless. For JPG, use the background color to fill transparent areas.
PDF options
Choose A4, US Letter, US Legal or a page fitted to the image. Portrait and landscape apply to fixed paper sizes. Margins are measured in PDF points, with 72 points per inch. Merge images into one PDF or download a separate PDF for each. These are image-based documents, not OCR or editable text.
PDF editing limitations
Browser page conversion rejects password-protected files, interactive forms and portfolios. The separate Protect PDF, Unlock PDF and Flatten PDF tools use the conversion server. Annotations, links, bookmarks, signatures and attachments are not preserved. Use flattened, static PDFs and check the output before sharing it.
If conversion fails
Check that the source opens in a trusted viewer. A renamed extension does not change the actual file format. Try a smaller file or fewer files, close other memory-heavy tabs, and refresh the page. A cancelled conversion leaves the selected files ready to retry. Downloads are temporary until you save them to your device.
Additional image formats
AVIF and HEIC inputs and AVIF outputs use 8-bit SDR. Higher-bit-depth files, HDR inputs, animations and multi-image HEIC collections are rejected. Metadata is removed; preserve originals for color-sensitive work. SVG supports self-contained shapes, paths, gradients and clipping. Text must be converted to outlines. Scripts, external resources, styles, embedded images, filters and animation are rejected.
PDF pages and resolution
Editing and rendering accept one PDF at a time, up to 300 source pages. Enter comma-separated page numbers or inclusive ranges, such as 1,3-5. Split groups use semicolons, such as 1-3;4-6. Reordering requires every page exactly once. PDF-to-image exports up to 50 pages and 100 megapixels total, at 72, 144 or 216 DPI. Each page downloads separately. Advanced color-transfer, luminosity and knockout filters are not supported; export a flat document first. Generated output is limited to 100 MB; on phones, use fewer pages and lower resolution.
Server tools
Video, audio, GIF, Word, EPUB, MOBI, archives and additional PDF tools run on the conversion server. Their default combined upload limit is 1 GB and processing timeout is two minutes. Video and audio exports stop at ten minutes; GIF export defaults to thirty seconds. PNG-to-SVG creates monochrome vector paths. PDF-to-Word approximates the layout; PDF-to-EPUB exports selectable text without OCR. Temporary uploads are deleted after the response or cancellation.
Accounts and cloud storage
Email accounts are stored by FreshConvert. Social login, password-recovery email and cloud-drive imports are not connected yet. Direct HTTPS image URL imports work when the source allows browser access.
