Browser tools

The image converter and browser PDF tools process files in your browser memory. They do not upload file contents. Download your results before resetting or closing the page.

Server tools

Video, audio, archive and document tools send selected files to the conversion service. The service runs on FreshConvert’s hosting server. Temporary input and output files are removed after a conversion response completes, fails or is cancelled. A forced shutdown can leave temporary files until cleanup runs. No uploaded or converted files are retained in account history.

Accounts

Email accounts are stored in a private server database. Passwords use salted scrypt hashes. An HTTP-only session cookie keeps you signed in for up to one day. Signing out removes the session. Your dashboard lets you update your profile, change your password, revoke sessions and API keys, export your data or delete your account. Recovery codes are single-use and stored as hashes. Google/Facebook login and email recovery are not connected.

Analytics and advertising

No third-party analytics or advertising scripts run in this build. Interaction events are provider-independent. To update the admin totals, browser conversions, editing jobs and unit or time calculations send a random job ID, the tool name and outcome to this site's own service. No file contents, filenames or conversion settings are included. When you are signed in, your session associates results with your private account history if history is enabled. Anonymous results only update aggregate counts. These summaries and their deduplication IDs are retained for up to 90 days. Server jobs are counted by the service. Personal history is retained for up to 90 days or 10,000 jobs per account. You can pause or clear it in your dashboard. Clearing personal history also clears your personal usage totals; anonymous site aggregates remain. API keys are stored as hashes and expire after 90 days. Advertisement placements stay empty and no third-party ad requests are loaded.

Downloads and metadata

Downloaded files stay on your device until you delete them. Re-encoding images generally removes embedded metadata. A compressor may retain the original if it is smaller; do not rely on it to remove GPS or other metadata.

Hosting and security

Website requests pass through our hosting server. Access logs may include your IP address, request path and browser information and are retained for up to ten days for service operations and troubleshooting. Private account pages and API responses are not cached. Account backups are restricted to the site operator; uploaded conversion files are not included in those backups.
